Their Words, Their Bathroom Experience
Every flush undoes your last clean.
Close the lid or leave it up, it doesn't matter much: a flush pushes a fine mist of whatever was in the bowl out onto the seat, the rim, and the handle. It settles in seconds. Nobody sees it happen.
Then the bathroom gets used again. And again. A family toilet gets used somewhere around 30 to 40 times a week. You clean it twice, maybe three times if you're the kind of person who notices these things.
So the honest math is this: for almost the entire week, you're using a toilet that was last disinfected days ago, and touched by everyone in the house since.
Sentia handles the part you can't.
It sticks under the lid in about a minute. From then on, every single time the lid closes, it runs a UV-C cycle at 253.7 nm — the same germicidal wavelength used in hospital disinfection — across the bowl and the underside of the seat.
No spray, no smell, no scrubbing, nothing to remember. It just runs, dozens of times a week, in the gaps where nothing else was happening.
And because it's already down there watching for movement, it gives you a soft light when you walk up at night. You'll stop reaching for the switch within a week.
What UV-C light is
It's light, not a chemical. A very short band of the ultraviolet spectrum — 253.7 nanometres — that hospitals, water treatment plants and labs have used for decades to disinfect without touching anything.

The light reaches the surface
Every time the lid goes down, Sentia runs a UV-C cycle across the bowl, the water and the underside of the seat.
-
2
It breaks the bacteria's DNA
At 253.7 nm the photons are absorbed by the microbe's own genetic material and fuse it together. The cell is left with instructions it can no longer read.
-

It can't multiply anymore
A bacterium that can't replicate doesn't rebuild a colony between one cleaning and the next. Nothing to scrub — the light does that part.
And why that takes the smell with it
Bathroom odour isn't dirt — it's gas. The bacteria living off the residue left in the bowl release sulphur and ammonia compounds as they feed, and that's what you're actually smelling.
Air freshener covers it for an hour. Sentia goes after the source: fewer bacteria on the surface means less of the gas they produce, so the bathroom stays neutral for longer between cleanings.
From published research on UV-C irradiation inside the toilet bowl. These are figures for the technology, not a test of Sentia itself.

FAQ's
Is the UV light safe around kids and pets?
Is the UV light safe around kids and pets?
The UV-C only operates with the lid closed. It physically can't run while the lid is up, so there's no way for the light to reach skin or eyes — theirs, yours, or a grandchild's. When the lid is up, Sentia is a night light and nothing else.
Do I have to do anything differently?
Do I have to do anything differently?
No. No app, no remote, no buttons. Lift the lid and the light comes on; close it and the cycle runs.
How bright is it? Will it wake them up?
How bright is it? Will it wake them up?
That's the whole design problem, and it's why Sentia has three brightness levels instead of one. You set it once when you install it — start on the lowest and move up only if they need more.
Even at the top setting it's bright enough to see the bowl, the seat and the floor at their feet, and not bright enough to reset their body clock the way a ceiling light does. Most people go back to bed and back to sleep.
Does it light the hallway or the path to the bathroom?
Does it light the hallway or the path to the bathroom?
No, and we won't tell you otherwise. Sentia lights the toilet area — roughly one square meter. If the walk from their bedroom is the part that worries you, you'd want motion-sensor lights along that route as well. This solves the part where they're turning, sitting and standing in the dark.
Will it fit my toilet?
Will it fit my toilet?
If the toilet has a lid, Sentia fits. It mounts to the underside of the lid with an adhesive pad, so the shape of the bowl, the brand and the model don't matter — round, elongated, one-piece, two-piece, all the same.
How long does the battery last?
How long does the battery last?
About 60 days per charge — measured at 8 uses a day, which is roughly what someone their age actually does. When it runs low you unstick it, charge it over USB-C in about 2 hours, and put it back. Around six times a year.
Does it replace cleaning the toilet?
Does it replace cleaning the toilet?
No. It handles the days in between. You clean twice a week; they use that toilet eight times a day. Sentia runs a disinfection cycle after every use so the surface isn't sitting untouched for three or four days at a stretch. You still clean — you just stop being the only thing standing between visits.
Can I gift it or set it up for someone else?
Can I gift it or set it up for someone else?
Yes, and most buyers do. Installation takes under a minute with no tools. Nothing needs configuring, pairing or connecting.
What if it doesn't work for us?
What if it doesn't work for us?
Try it for 60 nights. If it doesn't fit his bathroom, doesn't hold, or he simply doesn't take to it, return it for a refund in good condition. We'd rather have that than have you keep something that isn't helping.
Will the adhesive hold?
Will the adhesive hold?
It's a 3M-style adhesive mount rated for humid bathroom conditions, applied to the underside of the lid where there's no direct water contact. Clean and dry the surface before applying and give it an hour before first use. If it fails within your 60 nights, we replace the unit — not just the mount.
How does the 2-year warranty work?
How does the 2-year warranty work?
It covers technical faults in the device itself, for two years. If the motion sensor stops detecting, the UV cycle stops running, the light fails, or the battery no longer holds a charge, that's covered.
What it doesn't cover: drops, water damage, a unit that's been taken apart, or normal wear on the adhesive mount.
